“There are memorials in Belarus that remind us of numerous victims. These are truly sacred places for every Belarusian (not just for me, but for my family as well),” said the state secretary of the Security Council.
Athletes from Belarus, Russia, and Uzbekistan competed in the event. Belarusian gymnasts won a total of 44 medals, including 15 gold medals. For the men the team leader Yahor Sharamkou claimed victory in the vault and floor exercise.
Ivan Kubrakov said: “Every year on 22 March thousands of Belarusians and citizens of other countries come here to pay their respects to the defenseless people who were brutally murdered by the Nazis during the Great Patriotic War."
The chief of staff emphasized that the exercise is purely defensive. “We are practicing defense using mechanized brigades and combat operations in a support zone. We are practicing counterattacking and restoring positions at the state border,” he clarified.
Senior staff and other personnel of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, representatives of the diplomatic corps, who are accredited in Belarus, laid flowers at the Eternal Flame.
The analyst believes that the United States of America has absolutely no subjectivity in this conflict.
Andrei Kuntsevich said: “The Khatyn Tragedy Remembrance Day just like similar tragedies of hundreds of our other villages that did not survive that war represents a special day on the historical calendar of the Belarusian nation, which endured and prevailed despite all the hardships and tribulations."
Zhang Wenchuan said: “History teaches us that peace is hard to secure and it is necessary to preserve it. We live in a complicated period of time when the world is changing a lot and militarism is getting revived in some countries."
“As soon as we begin to forget, erase these facts from our memory, or try to turn the page and ignore the tragedies that occurred on our soil during the Great Patriotic War, then an alternative, false history immediately begins to take shape and spread,” said Vladimir Pertsov.
On the Day of Remembrance of the Tragedy in Khatyn, Mogilev Oblast paid tribute to the region’s residents who were brutally tortured and killed by Nazi invaders during the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945.
