Nvidia supplier SK Hynix posts 6-year high profit on AI boom

SK Hynix, South Korea's top chip maker, recorded its highest quarterly profit since 2018, boosted by strong AI chip demand, particularly high bandwidth memory (HBM). North Korea trash balloons disrupt flights in Seoul, cause rooftop fire

seoul, south korea — North Korea has sent about 500 balloons laden with trash into South Korea's air space over the past 24 hours, officials in the South said on Thursday, disrupting flights and igniting a fire on the roof of a residential building.  The balloons are part of an ongoing propaganda campaign by Pyongyang against North Korean defectors and activists in the South, who regularly send balloons carrying items such as anti-Pyongyang leaflets medicine, money and USB sticks loaded with K-pop videos and dramas. Japan's population falls for a 15th year with record low births and record high deaths

Japan’s total population has declined for the 15th straight year. That's according to government data released Thursday. The population dropped by more than a half-million people as the population ages and births remain low. Births in Japan hit a record low last year, and deaths were a record high. Japan’s population was 124.9 million as of Jan. 1. Surveys show that younger Japanese are increasingly reluctant to marry or have children.
