McDonald's posts surprise drop in quarterly global sales as spending slows

McDonald's reported a surprising 1% drop in quarterly global comparable sales, its first decline in 13 quarters, due to budget-strapped customers opting for cheaper home meals. Persistent inflation and rising food prices led to decreased demand, prompting value meal offers. Sales declined in the U.S., international markets, and Middle East.

Arjun Babuta narrowly misses medal, finishes fourth in final

Indian shooter Arjun Babuta buckled under pressure and finished fourth in the men's 10m air rifle competition after coming close to winning a medal in his maiden Olympics on Monday. Babuta shot a total of 208.4. A 9.5 in response to Croatia's Miran Maricic's 10.7 put paid to his hopes of finishing on the podium. The 25-year-old Babuta started the final with a 10.7 and followed that with a 10.2.
