Rights group says sexual violence is rampant in Sudan's civil war

An international rights group on Monday accused a paramilitary group in war-torn Sudan of sexual violence against women, including rape, gang rape, and forced and child marriage. A smaller number of incidents were also attributed to the military, it said. Human Rights Watch called for the United Nations and the African Union to establish a joint mission to protect civilians in Sudan as more than 15 months of fighting between the military and the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces has shown no signs of abating. India to host Men's Asia Cup 2025

India will host the Men's Asia Cup in 2025, which will be played in the T20 format, as per the Asian Cricket Council's (ACC) release of an Invitation for Expressions of Interest (IEOI) document on Saturday. This document invites interested parties to submit their IEOI for ACC Sponsorship Rights for the period from 2024 to 2027. The 2023 men’s Asia Cup was hosted by Pakistan and Sri Lanka and was played in the 50-overs format.

CBI files final charge sheet in Delhi excise policy case against Kejriwal

Concluding its probe in the alleged Delhi Excise Policy scam, the CBI on Monday filed its final charge sheet in the case against Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and others, officials said. The CBI earlier filed one main charge sheet and four supplementaries in the case in which former Delhi deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, Telangana MLC K Kavitha and others have also been charged. Detection of fake input tax credit (ITC) claims by central GST officers rose 51% to Rs 36,374 crore in 2023-24, Parliament was informed. In 2023-24, 9,190 cases were booked, 182 arrests made, and Rs 3,413 crore voluntarily deposited. In 2022-23, Rs 24,140 crore in fake ITC was detected from 7,231 cases

Several steps taken to curb students' suicides, MoS Sukanta Majumdar

The government has taken several steps to curb suicide cases among students, Union Minister of State for Education Sukanta Majumdar said on Monday and added that 1.2 per cent of suicides were related to examination failures. Asked about student suicides in Kota, a hub of coaching centres in Rajasthan for competitive examinations, the minister said a number of steps had been taken by the central and the state governments.
