Emergent coordination in temporal partitioning congestion games

by Reuven Cohen, Oren Perez

In this article we study the social dynamic of temporal partitioning congestion games (TPGs), in which participants must coordinate an optimal time-partitioning for using a limited resource. The challenge in TPGs lies in determining whether users can optimally self-organize their usage patterns. Reaching an optimal solution may be undermined, however, by a collectively destructive meta-reasoning pattern, trapping users in a socially vicious oscillatory behavior. Читать дальше...

Optimal truss design with MOHO: A multi-objective optimization perspective

by Nikunj Mashru, Ghanshyam G. Tejani, Pinank Patel, Mohammad Khishe

This research article presents the Multi-Objective Hippopotamus Optimizer (MOHO), a unique approach that excels in tackling complex structural optimization problems. The Hippopotamus Optimizer (HO) is a novel approach in meta-heuristic methodology that draws inspiration from the natural behaviour of hippos. The HO is built upon a trinary-phase model that incorporates mathematical representations of crucial aspects of Hippo’s behaviour... Читать дальше...

BnVP1, a novel vacuolar H+ pyrophosphatase gene from Boehmeria nivea confers cadmium tolerance in transgenic Arabidopsis

by Shoujing Zhu, Lei Chen, Zhonggui Zhang, Gang Chen, Nengbing Hu

Plants have developed precise defense mechanisms against cadmium (Cd) stress, with vacuolar compartmentalization of Cd2+ being a crucial process in Cd detoxification. The transport of Cd into vacuoles by these cation / H+ antiporters is powered by the pH gradient created by proton pumps. In this study, the full-length cDNA of a vacuolar H+-pyrophosphatase (V-PPase) gene from Boehmeria nivea (ramie), BnVP1, was isolated using... Читать дальше...

Limiting heterogeneity in cross-border data flow: Impact on domestic value chains stability and the role of innovation

by Yang Liu, Yuan Zhang, Rui Jiang, Jing Cheng, JingJing Dai

Amidst growing skepticism towards globalization and rising digital trade, this study investigates the impact of Restrictions on Cross-Border Data Flows (RCDF) on Domestic Value Chains (DVCs) stability. As global value chains participation declines, the stability of DVCs—integral to internal economic dynamics—becomes crucial. This study situates within a framework exploring the role of innovation and RCDF in the increasingly interconnected global trade. Читать дальше...

Optimizing motion detection performance: Harnessing the power of squeeze and excitation modules

by Jabulani Brown Mpofu, Chenglong Li, Xinyan Gao, Xinxin Su

This paper introduces an innovative segmentation model that extends the U-Net architecture with a Squeeze and Excitation (SE) mechanism, designed to enhance the detection of moving objects in video streams. By integrating this model into the ViBe motion detection algorithm, we have significantly improved detection accuracy and reduced false positive rates. Our approach leverages adaptive techniques to increase the robustness of the segmentation model in complex scenarios... Читать дальше...

G0 arrest gene patterns to predict the prognosis and drug sensitivity of patients with lung adenocarcinoma

by Yong Ma, Zhilong Li, Dongbing Li, Baozhen Zheng, Yanfeng Xue

G0 arrest (G0A) is widely recognized as a crucial factor contributing to tumor relapse. The role of genes related to G0A in lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD) was unclear. This study aimed to develop a gene signature based on for LUAD patients and investigate its relationship with prognosis, tumor immune microenvironment, and therapeutic response in LUAD. We use the TCGA-LUAD database as the discovery cohort, focusing specifically on genes associated with the G0A pathway. Читать дальше...

Coping strategies and symptoms of Adjustment Disorder among adults with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) during the Covid-19 pandemic

by Katarina Danielsson, Filip K. Arnberg, Kristina Bondjers

Background

The current study examined whether coping strategies and symptoms of Adjustment Disorder in adults with ADHD differed from what was observed in the general adult population during the Covid-19 pandemic, and compared the extent to which coping strategies and symptom levels of Adjustment Disorder were related to ADHD.

Method

This cross-sectional study was based on survey data collected during the spring of 2021... Читать дальше...

Determination of Rhodamine 6G with direct immersion single-drop microextraction combined with an optical probe

by Arina Skok, Andriy Vishnikin, Yaroslav Bazel, Ján Toth

The combination of an optical probe and single-drop direct immersion microextraction (DI-SDME-OP) was used for the preconcentration and subsequent spectrophotometric determination of rhodamine 6G (Rh6G). The developed method is based on the formation of an ionic associate between Rh6G and picric acid at pH 3.0 and its extraction with amyl acetate. A microdrop of the organic phase was stably placed in the hole of an optical probe immersed in the sample solution. Читать дальше...

Evaluation of oral health services and challenges faced by oral health practitioners working in Nyarugenge, Rwanda

by Emmanuel Nzabonimana, Yolanda Malele-Kolisa, Phumzile Hlongwa

Objective

Oral healthcare professionals encounter considerable challenges while providing services to curb the oral disease burden. The aim of this study was to explore the challenges faced by oral health practitioners providing oral health services in Nyarugenge, Rwanda and to appraise the availability and adequacy of oral hygiene equipment, instruments, and materials.

Methods

This was a cross-sectional concurrent mixed methods study. Читать дальше...
