Fixed point results in intuitionistic fuzzy pentagonal controlled metric spaces with applications to dynamic market equilibrium and satellite web coupling

by Umar Ishtiaq, Salha Alshaikey, Muhammad Bilal Riaz, Khaleel Ahmad

This manuscript contains several new spaces as the generalizations of fuzzy triple controlled metric space, fuzzy controlled hexagonal metric space, fuzzy pentagonal controlled metric space and intuitionistic fuzzy double controlled metric space. We prove the Banach fixed point theorem in the context of intuitionistic fuzzy pentagonal controlled metric space, which generalizes the previous ones in the existing literature. Читать дальше...

Assisted cloning of an unknown shared quantum state

by Dengxin Zhai, Jiayin Peng, Nueraminaimu Maihemuti, Jiangang Tang

We first propose a novel protocol to realize quantum cloning of an arbitrary unknown shared state with assistance offered by a state preparer. The initial phase of this protocol involves the utilization of quantum teleportation (QT), enabling the transfer of quantum information from an arbitrary number of senders to another arbitrary number of receivers through a maximally entangled GHZ-type state serving as a network channel... Conserved amino acid residues and gene expression patterns associated with the substrate preferences of the competing enzymes FLS and DFR

by Nancy Choudhary, Boas Pucker

Background

Flavonoids, an important class of specialized metabolites, are synthesized from phenylalanine and present in almost all plant species. Different branches of flavonoid biosynthesis lead to products like flavones, flavonols, anthocyanins, and proanthocyanidins. Dihydroflavonols form the branching point towards the production of non-colored flavonols via flavonol synthase (FLS) and colored anthocyanins via dihydroflavonol 4-reductase (DFR). Despite the wealth of publicly accessible data... Читать дальше...

Monetary policy reaction function: A Bayesian analysis for the BRICS

by Farah Waheed, Abdul Rashid, Asma Basit, Lubna Maroof

This study estimates the monetary policy reaction function (MPRF) in a Dynamic Stochastic General Equilibrium (DSGE) framework using Bayesian analysis for the emerging economies. DSGE models are suitable for the policy analysis because of their simplicity and prominent role of forward-looking variables. This is a pioneer study investigating the combined effects of credit spreads, fiscal imbalances, and monetary autonomy on interest rates for BRICS member countries. Читать дальше...

Self-Adaptive Teacher-Student framework for colon polyp segmentation from unannotated private data with public annotated datasets

by Yiwen Jia, Guangming Feng, Tang Yang, Siyuan Chen, Fu Dai

Colon polyps have become a focal point of research due to their heightened potential to develop into appendiceal cancer, which has the highest mortality rate globally. Although numerous colon polyp segmentation methods have been developed using public polyp datasets, they tend to underperform on private datasets due to inconsistencies in data distribution and the difficulty of fine-tuning without annotations. In this paper, we propose... Читать дальше...

Exploring the prevalence of childhood adversity among university students in the United Kingdom: A systematic review and meta-analysis

by Jackie Hamilton, Alice Welham, Gareth Morgan, Christopher Jones

Objectives

The focus of this review was to systematically review and meta-analyse the prevalence of ACEs among university students in the UK.

Method

The systematic searching of six electronic databases (conducted February 2024) identified ten relevant articles (peer-reviewed articles of a quantitative nature that included ACE prevalence). PROSPERO reference: CRD42022364799.

Results

Pooled prevalence for number of ACEs endured was 55.4% (95% CI... Читать дальше...

A study of the effects of four reading styles on college students’ mental health and quality of life based on positive psychology-A first-of-its-kind study

by Yamei Liu

Background

The increase in mental health problems among college students has become a global challenge, with anxiety and depression in particular becoming increasingly prevalent. Positive psychology has gained attention as an important psychological intervention that emphasizes improving mental health by promoting positive emotions and mindfulness. However, with the diversity of reading styles, however, there is a lack of systematic research on these effects. Therefore, this... Читать дальше...

Are the geographic disparities in U.S. violent crime rising?

by Richard T. Boylan

Inequality in economic and social outcomes across U.S. regions has grown in recent decades. The economic theory of crime predicts that this increased variability would raise geographic disparities in violent crime. Instead, I find that geographic disparities in homicide rates decreased. Moreover, these same decades saw decreases in the geographic disparities in policing, incarceration, and the share of the population that is African American. Thus, changes in policing... Comparison of machine learning methods for genomic prediction of selected Arabidopsis thaliana traits

by Ciaran Michael Kelly, Russell Lewis McLaughlin

We present a comparison of machine learning methods for the prediction of four quantitative traits in Arabidopsis thaliana. High prediction accuracies were achieved on individuals grown under standardized laboratory conditions from the 1001 Arabidopsis Genomes Project. An existing body of evidence suggests that linear models may be impeded by their inability to make use of non-additive effects to explain phenotypic variation at the population level. Cross-sectional analysis of national testosterone prescribing through prescription drug monitoring programs, 2018–2022

by Scott Selinger, Aneesh Thallapureddy

Background

For two decades preceding the COVID-19 pandemic, testosterone therapy (TT) became more prevalent in the US. Given the forced shift in practice patterns and healthcare accessibility during the pandemic, it was unclear how TT utilization would change.

Objective

To assess the change in testosterone prescriptions nationally.

Design

Cross-sectional study.

Data sources

State prescription drug monitoring program data between 2018 and 2022. Читать дальше...
