Structural insight into the DNMT1 reaction cycle by cryo-electron microscopy

by Inessa De, Jonas Weidenhausen, Nestor Concha, Christoph W. Müller

DNMT1 is an essential DNA methyltransferase that catalyzes the transfer of methyl groups to CpG islands in DNA and generates a prominent epigenetic mark. The catalytic activity of DNMT1 relies on its conformational plasticity and ability to change conformation from an auto-inhibited to an activated state. Here, we present four cryo-EM reconstructions of apo DNMT1 and DNTM1: non-productive DNA, DNTM1: H3Ub2-peptide, DNTM1: productive DNA complexes. Читать дальше...

Alpha-boswellic acid accelerates acute wound healing via NF-κB signaling pathway

by Fang Dong, Lijuan Zheng, Xuanfen Zhang

Background

Boswellic acids (BAs) showed promising effects in cancer treatment, immune response regulation, and anti-inflammatory therapy. We aimed to assess the roles of alpha-BA (α-BA) in treating acute wound healing.

Methods

In vivo wound-healing models were established to evaluate the therapeutic effects of α-BA. Cell assays were conducted to assess the impact of α-BA on cellular biological functions. Western blot analysis was employed... Читать дальше...

Asymmetric dynamic linkage between consumer sentiment, inflation expectations, and international energy prices: Evidence from time-frequency wavelet and nonlinear analysis

by Lianlian Fu, Dongyu Yuan, Jiamin Teng

This study investigates the relationship between consumer sentiment (CONS), inflation expectations (INEX) and international energy prices, drawing on principles from behavioral. We focus on Brent crude oil price and Henry Hub natural gas prices as key indicators of energy market dynamics. Based on the monthly data from January 2003 to March 2023, three wavelet methods are applied to examine the time-frequency linkage, while the nonlinear distributed... Читать дальше...

The temporal distribution of ridership in metro stations from land-use perspective

by Shian Dai, Liqiang Yu, Lang Song, Ying Li, Xuze Fan

A reasonable land use development around subway stations can balance the utilization rates of the subway system during peak and off-peak hours, thereby enhancing its service levels and operational efficiency. Analyzing the temporal distribution patterns of passenger flow and their influencing factors is crucial for determining the optimum ratio of each land use type surrounding metro stations. Thus, this paper employs principal component... Читать дальше...

Cognitive stimulation in activities of daily living for individuals with mild-to-moderate dementia (CS-ADL): Study protocol for a randomised controlled trial

by Simone M. Ryan, Orla Brady

Background

Multi-component CS programs incorporating practice of activities of daily living (ADL) into intervention have reported benefits for ADL outcomes in individuals living with mild-to-moderate dementia. A randomised controlled trial (RCT) within community occupational therapy services in Ireland, is planned to evaluate the effects of CS-ADL, an ADL-focused, multi-component CS program, on ADL outcomes for individuals living with mild-to-moderate dementia. Identify the digitalization technology opportunity of low-carbon energy technologies: Using the patent data and collaborative filtering

by Jie Liu, Wanlin Cai

The digitalization of low-carbon energy technologies (LCET) provides important technical support for the transition to a greener energy system. Digitalization addresses the phenomenon of the growing application of information and communications technologies (ICT) across the economy, which is regarded as the technology convergence between ICT and other technologies. Scholars have revealed the signs that LCET and ICT are becoming increasingly interlinked, which raises... Читать дальше...

A navigational risk evaluation of ferry transport: Continuous risk management matrix based on fuzzy Best-Worst Method

by Linh Thi Pham, Long Van Hoang

Ferry transport has witnessed numerous fatal accidents due to unsafe navigation; thus, it is of paramount importance to mitigate risks and enhance safety measures in ferry navigation. This paper aims to evaluate the navigational risk of ferry transport by a continuous risk management matrix (CRMM) based on the fuzzy Best-Worst Method (BMW). Its originalities include developing CRMM to figure out the risk level of risk factors (RFs) for ferry transport and... Читать дальше...
