A navigational risk evaluation of ferry transport: Continuous risk management matrix based on fuzzy Best-Worst Method

by Linh Thi Pham, Long Van Hoang

Ferry transport has witnessed numerous fatal accidents due to unsafe navigation; thus, it is of paramount importance to mitigate risks and enhance safety measures in ferry navigation. This paper aims to evaluate the navigational risk of ferry transport by a continuous risk management matrix (CRMM) based on the fuzzy Best-Worst Method (BMW). Its originalities include developing CRMM to figure out the risk level of risk factors (RFs) for ferry transport and... Читать дальше...

An analysis of the impact of digital technology adoption on the income of high quality farmers in production and operating

by Xiankai Lei, Dongmei Yang

Digital technology is shaping our traditional agriculture in unprecedented ways. As a new engine to empower farmers and promote common prosperity in rural areas, the development of the digital economy can help revitalize rural industries, providing strong support for increasing industrial value-added income and farmers’ income levels. Based on 676 pooled cross-section data of high-quality farmers in China Guangdong Province from 2020–2021, the article empirically... Читать дальше...

A fault diagnosis method based on an improved diffusion model under limited sample conditions

by Qiushi Wang, Zhicheng Sun, Yueming Zhu, Dong Li, Yunbin Ma

As a critical component in mechanical systems, the operational status of rolling bearings plays a pivotal role in ensuring the stability and safety of the entire system. However, in practical applications, the fault diagnosis of rolling bearings often encounters limitations due to the constraint of sample size, leading to suboptimal diagnostic accuracy. This article proposes a rolling bearing fault diagnosis method based on an... Читать дальше...

The role of mental health in the relationship between nursing care satisfaction with nurse-patient relational care in Chinese emergency department nursing

by Hui Huang, Jing Cui, Hua Zhang, Yuhui Gu, Haosheng Ni, Ya Meng

Background

The relationship between a nurse and a patient is a key part of nursing that can impact how happy the patient is with the care they receive. It appears that the nurse’s mental health can also affect this connection. However, there is little research on this topic. So, the aim of the present study was to determine the correlation of nurse’s mental health with nurse–patient relational care and nursing care satisfaction. Читать дальше...

A citation analysis of (f)MRI papers that cited Lieberman and Cunningham (2009) to justify their statistical threshold

by Andy Wai Kan Yeung

Introduction

In current neuroimaging studies, the mainstream practice is to report results corrected for multiple comparisons to control for false positives. In 2009, Lieberman and Cunningham published a highly cited report that promotes the use of uncorrected statistical thresholds to balance Types I and II error rates. This paper aims to review recent studies that cited this report, investigating whether the citations were to justify the use of uncorrected statistical thresholds... Читать дальше...

An unscheduled switch to endocycles induces a reversible senescent arrest that impairs growth of the Drosophila wing disc

by Yi-Ting Huang, Lauren L. Hesting, Brian R. Calvi

A programmed developmental switch to G / S endocycles results in tissue growth through an increase in cell size. Unscheduled, induced endocycling cells (iECs) promote wound healing but also contribute to cancer. Much remains unknown, however, about how these iECs affect tissue growth. Using the D. melanogaster wing disc as model, we find that populations of iECs initially increase in size but then subsequently undergo a heterogenous arrest that causes severe tissue undergrowth. Bayesian clustering with uncertain data

by Kath Nicholls, Paul D. W. Kirk, Chris Wallace

Clustering is widely used in bioinformatics and many other fields, with applications from exploratory analysis to prediction. Many types of data have associated uncertainty or measurement error, but this is rarely used to inform the clustering. We present Dirichlet Process Mixtures with Uncertainty (DPMUnc), an extension of a Bayesian nonparametric clustering algorithm which makes use of the uncertainty associated with data points. We show... Читать дальше...

Overcoming CRISPR-Cas9 off-target prediction hurdles: A novel approach with ESB rebalancing strategy and CRISPR-MCA model

by Yanpeng Yang, Yanyi Zheng, Quan Zou, Jian Li, Hailin Feng

The off-target activities within the CRISPR-Cas9 system remains a formidable barrier to its broader application and development. Recent advancements have highlighted the potential of deep learning models in predicting these off-target effects, yet they encounter significant hurdles including imbalances within datasets and the intricacies associated with encoding schemes and model architectures. To surmount these challenges, our... Читать дальше...
