SDAM: A dual attention mechanism for high-quality fusion of infrared and visible images

by Jun Hu, Xiaocen Zhu, Kai Niu

Image fusion of infrared and visible images to obtain high-quality fusion images with prominent infrared targets has important applications in various engineering fields. However, current fusion processes encounter problems such as unclear texture details and imbalanced infrared targets and texture detailed information, which lead to information loss. To address these issues, this paper proposes a method for infrared and visible image fusion based on a specific dual-attention mechanism (SDAM). Читать дальше...

Health literacy and its determinants among higher education students in the Alentejo region of southern Portugal—A cross-sectional survey

by Jorge Rosário, Sara Simões Dias, Sónia Dias, Ana Rita Pedro

Introduction

The capacity of higher education students to comprehend and act on health information is a pivotal factor in attaining favourable health outcomes and well-being. Assessing the health literacy of these students is essential in order to develop targeted interventions and provide informed health support. The aim of this study was to identify the level of health literacy and to analyse its relationship with determinants such as socio-demographic variables... Читать дальше...

Analysis of influencing factors of traffic accidents on urban ring road based on the SVM model optimized by Bayesian method

by Lei Wang, Mei Xiao, Jiliang Lv, Jian Liu

Based on small scale sample of accident data from specific scenarios, fully exploring the potential influencing factors of the severity of traffic accidents has become a key and effective research method. In order to analyze the factors mentioned above in the scenario of urban ring roads, this paper collected data records of 1250 traffic accidents involving different severity on urban ring road of a central city in northwest China in the past 3 years. The impact of digital technology on entrepreneurship——Evidence from China General Social Survey

by Kedong Wu, Mengchun Zhu, Yahui Qu

In light of the rapid development of digital technology, it is imperative to study the impact of digital technology on the labour force’s entrepreneurial choices with the utmost urgency. This paper first constructs a theoretical mechanism for how digital technology affects individual entrepreneurship. It then empirically examines data from the China General Social Survey (CGSS) to test the theory. The results show that digital technology significantly increases individual entrepreneurial choices. Comparison of the ability of resection versus nonresection surgery to prevent the recurrence of sigmoid volvulus: A protocol of a meta-analysis and systematic review

by Xiaomei Jiang, Qiang Du, Lie Yang

Purpose

Based on clinical research guidelines and clinical practice, patients with sigmoid volvulus (SV) who receive conservative treatment have a greater recurrence rate than patients who do not receive conservative treatment, which is almost without any controversy. Surgical treatment is usually the final treatment for patients with SV. However, there are multiple surgical methods for the treatment of SV, which can be roughly divided into resection and nonresection methods. Читать дальше...

Enhancement of oral bioavailability of ibrutinib using a liposil nanohybrid delivery system

by Fareeaa Ashar, Asif Ansari Shaik Mohammed, S. Selvamuthukumar

Liposils, synthesized via the liposome templating method, offer a promising strategy for enhancing liposome stability by employing a silica coating. This study focuses on the development of nanocarriers utilizing silica-coated nanoliposomes for encapsulating the poorly water-soluble drug, ibrutinib. Ibrutinib-loaded nanoliposomes were meticulously formulated using the reverse-phase evaporation technique, serving as templates for silica coating... Читать дальше...

Demographic isolation and attitudes toward group work in student-selected lab groups

by Mitra Asgari, Amy E. Cardace, Mark A. Sarvary

Small group work has been shown to improve students’ achievement, learning, engagement, and attitudes toward science. Previous studies that focused on different methods of group formation and their possible impacts mainly focused on measures of students’ academic ability, such as GPA, SAT scores, and previous familiarity with course content. However little attention has been given to other characteristics such as students’ social demographic... Читать дальше...

Enhancing seniors’ dental care access: Analyzing the impact of government insurance in Canada

by Qi Zhang

A crucial policy question for the government is whether publicly funded insurance programs effectively improve access to care. Using 2015 and 2018 Canadian Community Health Survey (CCHS) data, we first estimated the effect of government dental insurance for seniors on promoting regular care access and lowering cost barrier. When controlling for individual heterogeneity, we found that having government coverage is associated with significantly lower probability of reporting avoidance... Читать дальше...

Early diagnosis of Alzheimer’s Disease based on multi-attention mechanism

by Xinli Yang, Kefen Hong, Denghui Zhang, Ke Wang

Alzheimer’s Disease is a neurodegenerative disorder, and one of its common and prominent early symptoms is language impairment. Therefore, early diagnosis of Alzheimer’s Disease through speech and text information is of significant importance. However, the multimodal data is often complex and inconsistent, which leads to inadequate feature extraction. To address the problem, We propose a model for early diagnosis of Alzheimer’s Disease based on multimodal attention(EDAMM). Читать дальше...
