Ludhiana rural police arrests two accused in the attempt to murder case

Two suspects, Sandeep Singh and Harmesh Singh, from Akkuwal village were arrested for allegedly attempting to murder Balveer Singh in Ludhiana by shooting him in the stomach. A countrymade pistol was recovered, and efforts are underway to arrest the remaining suspects involved.

Jindal Power, Vedanta and CESC in race for Hiranmaye Energy's ₹1,300 crore assets

Eight companies, such as Jindal Power, Vedanta, and CESC, are vying to acquire Hiranmaye Energy in auction. The Kolkata-based thermal power producer has a reserve price of ₹1,300 crore. The company owns three units, with two operational. It has a 25-year agreement with the West Bengal government for power purchase and coal supply from Coal India.

Director-General Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala welcomed the outcome of a dedicated discussion on advancing the WTO talks on agriculture at a meeting of the Trade Negotiations Committee (TNC) on 10 October. Noting that this was the first time the TNC has been convened to focus on a specific issue, she said the discussions demonstrated the strong commitment by members to making a breakthrough in the talks by launching a TNC-endorsed process in the Committee on Agriculture in special session, the WTO’s dedicated forum for agricultural negotiations.
