Bifurcation analysis of an influenza A (H1N1) model with treatment and vaccination

by Kazi Mehedi Mohammad, Asma Akter Akhi, Md. Kamrujjaman

This research uses numerical simulations and mathematical theories to simulate and analyze the spread of the influenza virus. The existence, uniqueness, positivity, and boundedness of the solution are established. We investigate the fundamental reproduction number guaranteeing the asymptotic stability of equilibrium points that are endemic and disease-free. We also examine the qualitative behavior of the models. Using the Lyapunov method... Читать дальше...

The urban carbon unlocking effect of digital infrastructure construction: A spatial difference-in-difference analysis from “Broadband China” pilot policy

by Liang Guo, Lijing Chen, Zhen Yang

As the foundation and cornerstone of the digital economy, digital infrastructure construction is an indispensable engine for realizing China’s energy-saving and emission-reduction, innovation-driven and low-carbon transformation and development. Investigating the carbon unlocking effect of digital infrastructure construction might hasten the achievement of the dual-carbon goal and the “win-win” scenario of environmental protection and economic growth. However... Читать дальше...

Construction of management tools for early warning of prevacuum steam sterilization failure

by Xin Zhao, Ting Liu, Ning Ma, Ran Wang, Ying Li, Tong Shen

Objective

The aim of this study is to develop a set of management tools for early warning of steam sterilization failure, including a failure risk checklist and a calculation model for assessing early sterilization failure risk, and to verify the early warning effectiveness of the management tools through check experiment.

Methods

This study included two stages. The first stage involved the construction of a failure risk... Читать дальше...

Chlorogenic acid inhibits NLRP3 inflammasome activation through Nrf2 activation in diabetic nephropathy

by Liping Bao, Yuhan Gong, Wenji Xu, Jun Dao, Jinjin Rao, Haihui Yang

Diabetic nephropathy (DN) is the single largest cause of end-stage renal disease (ESRD). Inflammation reaction mediated by NLRP3 inflammasome and Nrf2-related oxidative stress have been considered to play a very important role in the progress of diabetic nephropathy (DN). Effective drugs for the treatment of diabetic nephropathy still need to be explored. Chlorogenic acid (CGA) is a kind of polyphenol with a Nrf2 activation property widely existed in nature. Effects of two training workshops upon university students’ learning of critical thinking

by Carlos Ossa Cornejo, Silva F. Rivas, Carlos Saiz Sánchez

We evaluated the effect of two workshops on learning about critical thinking amongst first- year university students. 66 Chilean pedagogy students participated, all female, with ages ranging between 18 and 37 years. Two experimental groups were organized, one with direct teaching (n = 22) and another one with semi-directed teaching (n = 19), plus a control group (n = 25). Pre- and post-tests were applied with an abbreviated Pencrisal critical thinking questionnaire. Читать дальше...

Determining the perceptions and practices of oncologists regarding venous thromboembolism risk assessment in ambulatory cancer patients: A qualitative study

by Marwa Akram Tariq, Ehab Mudher Mikhael

Cancer-associated thrombosis (CAT) can increase morbidity and mortality for cancer patients. Therefore, guidelines recommend predicting VTE risk and thromboprophylaxis for high-risk patients. Many studies critique oncologists’ adherence to thromboprophylaxis guidelines for cancer patients. Meanwhile, most of these studies did not discuss in detail the reasons and facilitators for oncologists’ adherence to thromboprophylaxis guidelines. Therefore,... Читать дальше...

Sequence and biochemical analysis of vaccinia virus A32 protein: Implications for in vitro stability and coiled-coil motif mediated regulation of the DNA-dependent ATPase activity

by Uma Ramakrishnan, Tanvi Aggarwal, Kiran Kondabagil

Nucleocytoplasmic large DNA viruses (NCLDVs) have massive genome and particle sizes compared to other known viruses. NCLDVs, including poxviruses, encode ATPases of the FtsK/HerA superfamily to facilitate genome encapsidation. However, their biochemical and structural characteristics are yet to be discerned. In this study, we demonstrate that the viral ATPases are significantly shorter than their bacterial homologs, representing the minimal ATPase core of the FtsK/HerA superfamily. Читать дальше...

by Hasan Orkun Varmış, Mehmet Yiğit Gökmen, İsmet Tan

Background

This study aimed to analyze the files of patients treated using PFN-A or INTERTAN intramedullary nails to reveal additional superiorities or disadvantageous factors for selecting the better intramedullary fixation method in patients presenting with intertrochanteric femur fractures.

Methods

In this retrospective study, the files of the patients who were operated on for intertrochanteric femur fractures using intramedullary... Читать дальше...

Agent-based simulation of trust networks and opportunistic behaviours of hydraulic infrastructure project participants

by Jiaqi Lv, Xiang Wang, Yaoyao Chen

Opportunistic behaviour has become a research hotspot in hydraulic infrastructure project management owing to its serious damage to the cooperation efficiency of all participants in a project. The trust networks formed by each participant can restrain opportunistic behaviour, but due to the dynamic evolution of the networks, its research should adopt a dynamic paradigm. The structure and evolution of trust networks can be simulated using computer simulations and modelling. Читать дальше...
