‘They’ve run their course!’ rage Coronation Street fans as they demand whole family is written out of ITV soap

CORONATION Street fans have made a demand to bosses, as they think a whole family should be written out.

Over the years, die-hard ITV viewers have gotten to know and love many families on the cobbles such as the Barlows and the Connors.

Some fans think the Nazirs may have overstayed their welcome on the street years later.

They were introduced in Coronation Street in 2013 and have gone onto feature in huge storylines over the years.

Sair Khan – who plays Alya – is currently preparing to leave the street as she is pregnant with her first child.

She is also due to give birth very soon and she will soon take her maternity leave away from the show.

In recent episodes the character declared her intentions to move to Dublin to be with Rich.

However, she is assigned to work on a joint case with Adam and he soon declares his feelings for her, before they share a kiss.

Viewers are unaware whether Alya will still go to Ireland or whether she remain in Weatherfield for Adam.

The current story has got the fans talking online, as they think the family as a whole should be given the axe.

On a Digital Spy forum, one fan wrote: “Yasmeen and Stu could vanish tomorrow and nobody would even notice, both are incredibly boring characters!”

They added: “Alya is wasted, she should return with a new family of her own in tow or not at all. The Nazir clan have run their course, they could easily be written out.”

Another echoed: “You’re not wrong. They’re not the strongest family unit mainly due to Stu. Started off as interesting, but he really sucks the life out of them.”

Whilst a third agreed: “Yasmeen worked better as a single character altogether, but I don’t know what else they could do with her.

However, other fans disagree as they think that the character of Alya herself is a fantastic addition to the serial drama.

One fan noted: “I hope she isn’t away for long, she’s one of the best things about the show right now.”

As another blamed the unbelievable exit storyline on the writers as they penned: “It’s been idiotically written but she has been OK”.

Previous controversial lines have included Yasmeen’s coercive control story as she was being psychologically abused by Geoff Metcalfe (Ian Bartholomew).

After the character (played by Shelley King) stabbed him in self-defence with glass from a broken wine bottle, she fought for her freedom in court.
