Media in Turkey have reported that security forces in the country have identified and detained 23 refugees, including Afghan citizens, in the city of Adana.

According to the state television TRT, these migrants are citizens of Afghanistan, Iraq, Egypt, and Pakistan.

Reports indicate that these individuals have been detained due to a “lack of legal residency” and transferred to the immigration office in Adana, Turkey.

According to Turkish authorities, these individuals entered the country through “illegal means,” and efforts to prevent their entry continue.

Additionally, the Turkish Interior Minister has recently announced the detention of 16 individuals on charges related to “human trafficking” in the cities of Mugla and Adana.

Earlier, Turkish media, citing Turkish authorities, had reported that in the past month, 1,096 “illegal refugees,” including Afghan citizens, were detained in the city of Adana.

This comes as in recent months, the trend of expulsion and detention of Afghan refugees in countries such as Turkey, Pakistan, and Iran has increased.
