Lake Desolation tavern under new ownership

Tinney's Tavern, located on Lake Desolation in Saratoga County, has new owners. The news of the ownership change was announced at the end of April.

MIDDLE GROVE, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- Tinney's Tavern, located on Lake Desolation in Saratoga County, has new owners. The news of the ownership change was announced at the end of April.

Previous owner Kevin Joyce owned Tinney's for over a decade. On April 29, the tavern ownership was passed to Bill and Karen Miller, and Sean and Jaimee Willcoxon, who are the owners and operators of Performance Industrial.

Sean Willcoxon had been in the restaurant industry for 26 years before joining Performance Industrial, a commercial and industrial cleaning company, a few years ago. "I had an itch to get back into the business and Bill was also interested," said Willcoxon.

Tinney's Tavern originally opened in the 1950s, is open year-round, and is a popular spot during snowmobile season. The Saratoga Snowmobile Association has trails along Lake Desolation.

With the change in ownership, some changes are coming to the restaurant. Willcoxon said they are redoing the floors and trim work, launching a new website, and debuting a refreshed menu. The tavern will still serve its staple burgers and wood-fired pizza.

Tinney's Tavern is temporarily closed as the new owners work to refresh and reopen. The reopening date is set for May 15. The tavern's new hours will be Wednesday and Thursday from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m., Friday and Saturday from noon to 10 p.m., and Sunday from noon to 8 p.m.

"We look forward to meeting the community and carrying on the tradition of Tinney's Tavern," said Willcoxon.
