A HOLLYOAKS star has teased their exit from the soap as fan grilled them about the devastating cast cuts.
It was revealed earlier this year that show bosses will axe 20 stars after reducing its weekly episodic output from five to three times a week from September.
This will happen at the same time as a time jump, which will facilitate the mass departure of characters.
Hollyoaks fans are desperate to know which of their favourite characters will be staying on the E4 soap.
Now actress Lily Best has left them concerned she could be leaving after giving a cryptic response to a fan question.
Lily joined Hollyoaks as Lizzie Chen-Williams in December 2021 and has become a firm favourite.
Her storylines have included having her drink spiked and becoming a victim of Eric Foster.
During an Instagram Q&A one fan asked: “Pls tell me Lizzie survives the character cuts?!” alongside a heart and broken-hearted emoji.
Unfortunately, Lily didn’t give a straightforward answer, as she responded with a snap of her on an escalator pouting and giving a peace sign.
She added a string of side-eyed emojis to her post, leaving fans wondering what will happen in the coming months.
Meanwhile, it was revealed last week that despite the numerous cuts to the show, a former cast member is returning – but as a completely different character.
In upcoming scenes, Sienna Blake (played by Anna Passey) will see her family tree expand when she meets her long-lost grandmother and uncle, the latter bearing a striking resemblance to her late father Patrick.
Actor Jeremy Sheffield, who played Patrick Blake between 2012 to 2016, has rejoined the Channel 4 soap as the character’s twin brother, Jez.
Joining him is actress and television personality Sherrie Hewson, who has signed up to play the role of Martha.
Sherrie and Jeremy are set to make their first appearances in late May.
Jeremy said of his return: “I’m so excited to be back in the village and have the opportunity to play a great new character.
