According to Healthline, hormonal imbalances, nutritional deficiencies, and physical trauma are among the many causes of eyebrow thinning.

A doctor can consider the shedding alongside other symptoms to choose a suitable treatment and to find out if it’s a sign of an underlying health condition.

Dr. Roshan Vara is a hair transplant surgeon and co-founder of The Treatment Rooms London.

Speaking to The U.S. Sun, he shared advice for regrowing thinning brows to avoid relying on makeup for a full look.

“It’s something that affects thousands of people every year,” he said.

“There are rarer forms of eyebrow hair loss exist, but the most common cause is chronic overplucking over extended periods of time.”

HOME REMEDIES

Dr. Vara said eating a balanced diet and applying vitamin-infused products can help to prevent hair loss.

“The body needs proper nutrients to help with healthy eyebrow growth, so it’s important to eat a diet that is rich in fish, nuts, seeds, and leafy vegetables,” he said.

“Home remedies exist including applying coconut or argan oils, but there is little evidence that this actually stimulates regrowth.

“If you’re noticing significant hair loss in your eyebrows it’s definitely worth consulting a healthcare professional.

“They will be able to help you understand the root cause and may be able to suggest medication or other treatments that could help with hair growth.

“This could cover everything from over-the-counter medication like Minoxidil to something like an eyebrow transplant.”

BEAUTIFUL BROWS

“Eyebrow hair grows at different rates for different people,” Dr. Vara said.

“The total hair growth cycle is often 3-4 months from starting to grow to eventually shedding.

“It can take 3-4 weeks for an eyebrow hair being plucked to regrow again.”

He said eyebrow transplants can be a solution for people who aren’t seeing their desired results with over-the-counter products.

“Eyebrow transplants are a safe, minimally invasive procedure involving the extraction of donor hair follicles from the scalp and delicate transplantation into small incisions to shape the eyebrows,” he said.

“New hairs grow from the grafts over time, resulting in new, thicker eyebrows.”
