Whilst millions of Brits are on the lookout for effective hacks to banish the pesky slugs from their gardens, beauty buffs in the USA are getting the molluscs on their nails.

The rather bizarre trend, created by nail guru named Huyen, from California, has taken Instagram by storm, leaving people both horrified and seriously impressed.

Sharing a snap of her jaw-dropping artwork on the platform, Huyen confessed that she had a special spot for the common garden invader in her heart.

”I love slugs,” the beauty pro wrote in the caption of the now-viral post.

The close-up snaps revealed several 3D slugs, all in different shades of brown and with slimy tentacles and with a foot at the bottom of their bodies.

According to the extremely talented whizz, she had created the fake slugs herself, carefully moulding and painting each figurine by hand.

This is not the only unusual nail design she’s come up with – Huyen’s Instagram page boasts a number of unconventional looks, including 3D spikes, spiders, other insects, as well as teeny mice.

However, as skilled and gifted Huyen may be, the slimy nails have proven to be a bit too much for some people on Instagram.

One mortified person appreciated her work, writing: ”I’m sorry these are done amazingly but I’m petrified of slugs and can’t look at this post without gagging.

”Again, beautiful artwork but I just can’t.”

Another agreed, adding: ”I have a slug phobia and this just sent me over the edge!”

Someone else chimed in: ”They look so real, my jaw is on the floor.”

But the bizarre manicure had also found itself numerous fans, as one beauty lover yelled: ”THESE ARE SO SLUGGIN CUTEEEE.’

”My god, this is good,” a fellow Instagram user couldn’t get over the look.

”Omg these are fantastic! Not so cute in real life… but on nails? Unbelievably cute!” a third fanatic said.

2024 Nail Trends

LAST year saw us painting our nails in all the colours of the rainbow. But what will we be asking our nail techs for in 2024?

According to Kim Truong, celebrity nail artist, the ‘dark academia’ trend will see the rise of dark, grungy colours.

Nail technician Malkia Brown claimed that shimmering nails are set to be huge in 2024.

Trang Ho, a nail educator from Australia, explained that the abstract nail trend is set to prove popular this year.

Meanwhile, Julita Fagan, a nail expert from the UK, predicted a rise in the ‘blush’ nail trend.

At the same time, a nail salon founder form Amsterdam, Carolina Lopez Roque, predicted that classic red nails are making a comeback.

Speaking of unusual nail trends, Benny Blanco recently left social media users totally horrified with his pickle toes.

The 36-year-old, who’s dating Selena Gomez, 31, is reported to have even asked the nail tech to paint the girlfriend’s favourite pickle brand too, Yahoo! reported earlier.

The star, who began dating the singer midway through 2023, shared close-up snaps of his pickle feet via Instagram.

Both of his big toes included the logo of Selena’s favourite pickle brand — Best Maid Pickles – whilst the rest of the toes boasted an intricate and realistic nail art to resemble pickles.
