Canajoharie man arrested on multiple gun charges

The Montgomery County Sheriff's Office announced the arrest of Brandon Shelmandine, 29, of Canajoharie, following an extensive firearm investigation.

CANAJOHARIE, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- The Montgomery County Sheriff's Office announced the arrest of Brandon Shelmandine, 29, of Canajoharie, following an extensive firearm investigation. He was charged with two counts of third-degree criminal sale of a firearm and third-degree criminal possession of a weapon.

Shelmandine is accused of illegally possessing and selling a gun and a high-capacity ammunition device, according to police. The Montgomery County Sheriff's Office was assisted with the investigation by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms, the Fort Plain Police Department and the Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office.

Shelmandine was arraigned at the Town of Palatine Court before being released after posting a cash bail of $10,000. He is scheduled to return to court at a later date.
