The Ministry of Refugees and Repatriations of Afghanistan announced the forced return of hundreds of Afghan migrants, including three prisoners.

The ministry stated in a newsletter on Tuesday, May 14, that more than 500 migrants have returned to the country forcibly through the Torkham and Spin Boldak border crossings.

Meanwhile, the ministry also reported the release of three Afghan migrants from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa prison and stated that they were returned to the country after spending 13 days. It is said that these individuals had entered Pakistan without legal documents.

According to the newsletter, these individuals returned to the country on Monday, May 13.

According to the Ministry of Migrants, 273 of these migrants entered the country through the Spin Boldak crossing, and another 270 entered through Torkham and were registered by the ministry.

The return of these migrants follows the continued forced deportation of over one million illegal Afghan migrants from Pakistan.

This comes amid a dire humanitarian crisis in the country, exacerbated by deadly flash floods in the North and Northeastern provinces.

In addition, the returnees from neighbouring countries face several challenges, including a lack of foodstuffs, amenities, and facilities and uncertain futures.
