Two cars said to be involved in the battle were pointing weapons at each other before the woman, understood not to be linked to the drivers, was gunned down.

A witness told MailOnline after shooting the woman, both cars raced off towards Clapham Common in the capital where two further shots were heard.

Emergency services swamped the scene on Tuesday night before rushing the victim to a major trauma centre in east London.

It is not known how many shots were fired or the current condition of the woman.

No one else is understood to have been injured.

The Met Police has made no arrests as of yet.
