The Ministry of Migrants and Repatriates of Afghanistan has announced the expulsion of over 900 migrants and 15 Afghan prisoners from Pakistan.

The ministry said on its social media platform X on Wednesday, May 15, that these individuals entered the country through the Torkham and Spin Boldak border crossings.

According to the ministry’s newsletter, 15 prisoners whose imprisonment in Pakistan ranged from three days to 18 months have been released.

Meanwhile, 954 migrants have been forcibly repatriated and registered by the Ministry of Migrants, receiving assistance.

Three prisoners were also released from detention in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province and returned to the country yesterday. Additionally, 500 migrants were forcibly expelled from Pakistan on Tuesday.

The return of these migrants follows the continued expulsion of over one million illegal Afghan migrants from Pakistan.

In Afghanistan, a dire humanitarian crisis is unfolding as the situation worsens due to flash floods compounded by the expulsion of migrants from neighboring countries.

The recent flash floods have devastated communities, displacing thousands from their homes and exacerbating a fragile situation. With infrastructure damaged and access routes cut off, aid delivery becomes increasingly challenging, leaving many without essential supplies such as food, clean water, and medical assistance.

The expulsion of Afghan migrants from neighboring countries adds another layer of complexity to an already dire situation.

Forced to return to a country plagued by conflict, instability, and limited resources, these migrants face heightened vulnerabilities and uncertainty about their future. Many lack access to basic necessities and risk further displacement, which strains an already overwhelmed humanitarian response.
