"We had a lot of mutual friends and they'd been trying to introduce us for a long time," Turner told Harper's Bazaar UK during a March 2019 interview. "We were following each other on Instagram and he direct messaged me one fine day, out of the blue."
After talking for a few weeks, they met up in real life in London.
"[We] were all in," Jonas told Dr. Phil in 2019. "We knew it was something unique."
"I expected him to show up with security and everything. I thought, 'He's gonna be such a dick,'" Turner told Elle magazine in a cover story released in March 2020.
The actor said she was skeptical that it was actually Jonas who messaged her in the first place. As a safety measure, she invited her friends to accompany her.
"I brought all my guy friends to come with me to meet him, because in the back of my mind I still worried that he could be a catfish — or I don't know what," she said. "I just wanted my guy friends with me. I had my rugby boys. I was safe."
Turner went on to say that she met Jonas at a "local shitty bar, dirty, with great music and people throwing up everywhere" and they chatted "for hours."
She added: "It wasn't small talk — it was just so easy. And soon we were, like, inseparable. I went on tour with him."
Turner and Jonas were dressed as a Dalmatian and a rabbit. Other than the fact that they were standing near each other, nothing indicated a romance was burgeoning.
A fellow concertgoer told Us Weekly Turner and Jonas were cuddled up and kissing throughout the show.
From dining in romantic New York City restaurants to going out in LA clubs, Turner and Jonas were frequently popping up around the US.
The photo was captioned simply: "Miami Daze."
This was far from a confirmation of their relationship, but it was clear the couple was spending more and more time together.
"I can't believe you're going out with Joe," Mario Lopez of Extra said.
Turner laughed and seemed taken aback by the direct question.
"I'm not saying anything," she replied. "I'm very happy."
Even though no photos were snapped of them on the red carpet, afterward, they were spotted heading to Katy Perry's after-party and holding hands.
"These two ❤️ ," Nick Jonas wrote.
This was the closest fans got to a confirmation because neither Jonas nor Turner had shared more photos of themselves since Turner's January post from Miami.
From more outdoor restaurant sightings to New York City walks, Turner and Jonas continued holding hands and kissing in public.
"You do feel like you're living in a fishbowl," Turner said when asked about dating Jonas. "It's frustrating [that] it's the most mundane things that make the news – how boring! There are really no other headlines?"
She also told Marie Claire that she and Jonas had met each other's parents.
"They met through mutual friends and have already done the 'meet the parents' — him joining the Turners in a north London pub; her on a Jonas' family skiing trip," Marie Claire reported.
"I'm in a relationship, but it's a very private relationship," she told the Times of London on July 1.
She also spoke generally about how her life had changed recently, likely in conjunction with her relationship to Jonas.
"I'm happier than I've been in a very long time," she told the publication. "I very much isolated myself for a while and forgot what was fun. Going out with friends, going out to eat, not really having a care. And people I've met recently in my life have drawn me out of that. It really helps you own those insecurities. The things I tortured myself about before, I can forget about."
Insider was on hand for the red carpet premiere and after party, and spotted Turner and Jonas holding hands and catching up with fellow "Game of Thrones" couple Kit Harington and Rose Leslie.
Jonas posted a photo from the after-party of himself and his brother Nick chatting with Harington.
The pup's name is Porky Basquiat, and Jonas got him for Sophie as a gift. They also had another Alaskan Klee Kai named Waldo Picasso, Porky's biological brother.
"Porky is a maniac, a wild man, and Waldo is shy," Jonas told the "Today" show in 2018.
"I said yes," Turner wrote.
Jonas captioned his photo saying: "She said yes."
Friends and family congratulated the happy couple and the "Game of Thrones" fandom went nuts over the news.
The couple later held a star-studded engagement party with a guest list that included model Ashley Graham, Ansel Elgort, and Tom Holland.
"There's this weird misconception that being married is the greatest thing that'll ever happen to you," the actress told Marie Claire for the 2018 Fresh Faces issue. "But I've always found that my career is something I work for, and when I achieve something, there's a sense that this is the greatest thing I'll do in my life."
She elaborated, saying: "It's lovely to be engaged. Not like I achieved anything, but I found my person, like I'd find a house that I love and want to stay in forever. There's a sense of peace that comes with finding your person. But there's a drive that comes with your career."
Jonas' wrist reads "To infinity," while Turner has "& beyond," a nod to Buzz Lightyear's famous line.
In an image shared on Instagram, Turner was seated at a large table with fiancé Joe Jonas, her parents and brother, newlyweds Nick Jonas and Priyanka Chopra, the Jonas parents, and Chopra's mother.
Turner and Jonas also went on a ski trip to Verbier, Switzerland with Nick and Chopra.
The lavish video was filmed at Hatfield House, just outside central London. The "Sucker" music video also featured $200 million worth of artwork inside.
"I think for the longest time I didn't have a real sense of myself," Turner, who was 13 when she auditioned for the role of Sansa on "GoT," said in a cover story for Glamour UK's spring/summer 2019 issue. "I had a bit of an identity crisis where I was playing all these people and I'd grown up faster than I probably should have done."
The actor went on to say that she credits "a lot" of her happiness to her relationship with Jonas, "who loves me more than he loves himself, and who wants to see me find my own happiness."
Turner added: "That was probably the biggest thing that pushed me to find who I am — and find my happiness in things other than acting."
"I don't think I love myself at all, but I'm now with someone that makes me realize that I do have some redeeming qualities, I suppose," she said during an interview with Dr. Phil for his podcast called "Phil in the Blanks." "And when someone tells you they love you every day, it makes you really think about why that is and I think it makes you love yourself a bit more. So yeah, I love myself."
She added: "I feel safe around him. I won't be judged by him. He's seen the worst."
It took place at A Little White Wedding Chapel, following the Billboard Music Awards, which the Jonas Brothers performed at.
The wedding was officiated by an Elvis Presley impersonator and the guests included celebrities who were present at the BBMAs, like Khalid, country duo Dan + Shay, and the other members of the Jonas family. DJ Diplo was also present and livestreamed the event on Instagram. He later got flack for doing so without asking the bride and groom for permission.
The couple turned heads in matching, colorful Louis Vuitton outfits by designer Nicolas Ghesquière.
"It was the worst day of our lives," Turner said during an interview with the Times UK in May 2019. "For a second we both had cold feet, then 24 hours later we were both, like, 'Never mind.'"
"In finding myself, I was also able to find a partner," he said. "The impact of falling in love has made me want to be a better man, a better person, and ultimately made me a better brother."
Jonas explained that they chose that destination because it was "mutual ground" for the pair.
"We both have spent a lot of time in France together," he told Dr. Phil in an interview. "It also happens to be one of the most romantic places in the world."
They were joined at the wedding by family members, including Nick Jonas, his wife Priyanka Chopra, model Ashley Graham, as well as Turner's "Game of Thrones" costar Maisie Williams, who served as the maid of honor.
The couple hasn't revealed any details about the event, but Us Weekly reported that Turner wore Louis Vuitton for the ceremony. According to E!, white flowers and glass candles lined the aisles of the venue.
Just Jared, "E! News," and Us Weekly reported that the couple has a baby on the way. "E! News" reported that Turner has been pregnant for about four months and according to Us Weekly, her baby is due in the summer.
The stars haven't publicly addressed the reports, but they were photographed shopping for baby clothing in California.
TMZ first reported that the two stars became parents to a baby girl named Willa, born in Los Angeles.
"Sophie Turner and Joe Jonas are delighted to announce the birth of their baby," a representative for Turner said in a statement shared with Business Insider.

The couple posted several never-before-seen photos from their Vegas wedding, including photos of them kissing at the altar and posing together in a pool in their formal attire.
Jonas captioned his Instagram post: "Married as F@$K for 2 years! Love you bub @sophiet."
Meanwhile, Turner wrote: "Happy 2 year Vegas Wedding anniversary to this big ol hunk of man meat ❤️ ???? ⛪️."
"It's been amazing," Jonas said during an interview with "CBS This Morning."
He added: "It's been forced time at home. I'm always on the go, I'm always moving and traveling and touring. And to be in one place for a solid amount of time and just have my feet on the ground and be with my immediate family, is time I don't think I'll get back. I'm so thankful and grateful."
When asked about his daughter, Jonas described her as "gorgeous" and said that one of the biggest parenting lessons he's learned is that "naps are nice."
On the second anniversary of their second wedding ceremony, Jonas first posted a picture of himself and Turner dancing during their wedding reception. "The best two years of my life. Love you @sophiet," he captioned the shot.
The photo offered a closer look at Turner's wedding dress's bodice and sleeves, which had previously only been seen in one photo shared by the couple.
Turner likewise shared an Instagram post celebrating the big day, writing "I mean… fuck it, it's been 2 years," alongside a slideshow of five pictures.
They wore coordinating black-and-white outfits to the prestigious event, which that year had the theme "In America: An Anthology of Fashion."
Turner said that she and Jonas are careful to keep their daughter Willa out of the public's eye and don't want her to become a "nepotism child."
"I'm very protective of the life we've built," Turner said of their relationship in a cover story for Elle UK.
The "Game of Thrones" star said that she's especially protective of her daughter, born in July 2020, because she didn't choose life as a celebrity.
"My daughter never asked for any of this," Turner said.
"Joe and Sophie are happy to announce the arrival of their baby girl," the couples representatives told People in a statement.
In a conversation for The Wrap's "UnWrapped" podcast, the "X-Men" star said that motherhood gave her a "different perspective" as an actor.
"The concept of family has made me an entirely much more emotional person," she said. "The empathy is heightened; the feelings about family are just like overflowing. It's made me a better actor for becoming a mother."
Siblings Joe, Nick, and Kevin Jonas were joined by their wives, their parents, and their youngest brother, Frankie Jonas, at the event.
According to People magazine, Jonas called Turner his "homie," adding, "You're my partner in crime. You keep me motivated and inspired every day. I strive to be as cool as you."
Referencing his children at the same event, People reported that Jonas said, "To my little ones at home, Daddy loves you to the moon and back."
Turner gushed about how "proud" she was of the band in an Instagram post shared after the event.
"To see the hard work and love and light you boys bring to your music… it's an honor just to watch from the sidelines," she wrote. "After almost 20 years of hard work you boys are so deserving of this. I'm so lucky to count you as family. I'm proud of you every day."
Jonas posted a screenshot of the couple from the social media app BeReal, with the caption: "Here's to more nights being real with you."
Turner wore a green minidress to the tour's opening weekend at Yankee Stadium in New York. She later posted a series of photos on Instagram, including one in which she kissed Jonas' hand while walking alongside him backstage.
"Happy birthday handsome," Turner captioned the mirror selfie, which showed the couple wearing matching striped pajamas.
The couple purchased the home in 2021. It which features six bedrooms, nine baths, a spa, pools, and an outdoor kitchen.
In August, the sprawling waterfront mansion spanning 10,414 square feet sold for $15 million.
TMZ first broke the news of Jonas shopping for a divorce lawyer, reporting that the pair, who married in 2019 in dual ceremonies in Las Vegas and France, had been having "serious problems" for months.
People confirmed that Jonas retained a lawyer.
The same day that the shocking news was reported, Jonas was seen wearing his wedding ring during the Jonas Brothers' latest stop on their tour in Austin. His wedding band was also fully displayed in a black-and-white photo shared on Instagram on Monday.
Today.com obtained Jonas' petition for dissolution of marriage, filed in Miami, stating that "the marriage between the parties is irretrievably broken."
The petition also stated that it's in the "best interests" of their two kids for Jonas and Turner to have "shared parental responsibility."
Jonas and Turner released a joint statement amid rampant speculation about the reason for their split.
"After four wonderful years of marriage we have mutually decided to amicably end our marriage," they said in statements posted on their Instagram accounts. "There are many speculative narratives as to why but, truly this is a united decision and we sincerely hope that everyone can respect our wishes for privacy for us and our children."
Turner couldn't speak about specifics regarding the marriage for legal reasons, but said that the time following the divorce news was "the worst few days of my life."
The actor recalled being on the set of her upcoming show "Joan" and not being able to get to her kids in the US because of her contractual obligations. Then, various articles, opinions, and narratives spread about her. While Jonas was photographed out and about with their kids, Turner was mom-shamed and accused of being a partier.
"It hurt because I really do completely torture myself over every move I make as a mother — mum guilt is so real! I just kept having to say to myself, 'None of this is true. You are a good mum and you've never been a partier,'" Turner said.
The "Game of Thrones" actor praised Taylor Swift for letting Turner stay at her New York home for free.
"I've never been more grateful to anyone than I am for her because she took my children and me, and provided us with a home and a safe space," she said. "She really has a heart of gold."
Since moving back to the UK and being closer to her friends and family, Turner said she's "the happiest I've been in a really long time."
"I'm starting over again, rediscovering what I like to do, who I like to be with," she said, describing her daughters as "total girlie girls and absolute rays of sunshine in my life."
Turner said that she's "unhappy" with how her divorce played out publicly, especially regarding custody of her kids, but said that she and Jonas are "doing the best" that they can.
"I'm confident that we can figure it out," she said. "Joe is a great father to our children and that's all that I can ask for."
