Evacuation ordered surrounding house fire in The Dalles

A house fire has prompted an evacuation notice in a part of The Dalles, according to the Wasco County Sheriff's Office.

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) -- A house fire has prompted an evacuation notice in a neighborhood of The Dalles, according to the Wasco County Sheriff's Office.

The evacuation zone runs one block in all directions of the intersection of West 18th Street and Mt. Hood Street. The evacuation was ordered after a fire near 900 West 19th Street around 9:11 a.m.

"Please continue to avoid the area and find alternate routes for the safety of first responders and citizens," the sheriff's office said. "We will continue to post updates as the situation changes."

The situation is ongoing, and authorities ask nearby traffic to avoid the area. The cause of the fire remains unclear as of 10 a.m.
