In Cannes, Francis Ford Coppola talks Trump, self-financing 'Megalopolis' and why he has no regrets
Much attention has been paid to the $120 million of his own fortune that Francis Ford Coppola put up to make the futuristic epic “Megalopolis.” The director himself isn’t much concerned. Speaking to reporters Friday at the Cannes Film Festival, Coppola said he didn't care about money, and never did. On Thursday, Coppola unveiled his Roman Empire-styled sci-fi opus to mostly negative reviews. The director said that the filmed seemed increasingly relevant to him, saying today's American politics “has taken us to the point where we might lose our republic.” He also said he had few regrets.
