National Grid hosts job shadow event

A local utility company is trying to recruit the next generation of workers.

ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- A local utility company is trying to recruit the next generation of workers. National Grid partnered with Junior Achievement to host a job shadow event.

Dozens of middle and high school students from the Albany City School District had the chance to see what it is like to be a line worker, a maintenance technician, and more. The goal was to show students a full range of career paths they could take.

"We have what I like to call a little city here at National Grid," Renee Devine, Manager of Electric Vehicle and Demand Response Implementation, said. "It takes all of us, and all of our special talents and training and trades to make the system work."

"We want them to understand that they have many different opportunities for success in the future, and anything's possible," Junior Achievement Pres. Chris Horne said.
