I combat eye wrinkles with a 4-step routine – my $16 Japanese buy is a quick fix, don’t go straight for the big guns

A SKINCARE fan has spilled the beans on how they treat their under-eye wrinkles with hydrating ingredients.

When beginning an anti-aging regimen, it’s better to start small than dive into advanced treatments, they said.

Redditor @thisisthewell shared their tried-and-true method after fellow user @opalandolive posted a photo of their under-eye area.

“How [do you] treat under-eye wrinkles?” they asked.

Thisisthewell explained that, like the original poster, they have naturally dry, dehydrated skin with fine lines under the eyes.

“Everyone’s telling you to go straight for the big guns (seriously, guys, come on), but I think you should start small with hydrating ingredients,” they said.

WHAT TO USE AND WHY

The Redditor then laid out the four-step routine that works for them.

“Pat a hyaluronic acid serum onto the face before it gets completely dry after cleansing/splashing with water,” they said.

“I personally prefer the Japanese brand Hada Labo because I can layer theirs if the weather is dry.

“Their hyaluronic acid lotions are basically watery, hydrating toners, but you can get all kinds of hyaluronic acid products now, which is great.

“I do this morning and night and it makes a huge difference.

“You’d see some difference within a few days if you use it AM and PM and use a good sealing moisturizer on top, so it’s a quick fix, and it’s good for your skin overall.”

Hada Labo Gokujun Premium Hyaluronic Solution is currently available on Amazon for $15.99.

The skincare fan recommended a serum to follow up.

“Peptide serum encourages collagen production,” they said.

“I like the Timeless ones because they are formulated based on clinical efficacy.

Anti-aging tips

  • Keep your skin hydrated internally by drinking water and externally with moisturizer.
  • Always use sunscreen, even if you’re not in direct sunlight.
  • Use Vitamin C to brighten the skin and don’t forget to apply to your neck.

“Honestly I got into these during lockdown and I’m sold on them. It took three weeks for me to see early results.”

The third step is applying a common ingredient that is used to fade dark spots.

“Vitamin C [is an] antioxidant and encourages collagen production,” they said.

“Some people find this tingles, so if you feel like your skin is sensitive you can start with a lower concentration. 15-20% is best, though. Also really good for fading acne marks and erythema.”

Finally, they stressed the importance of wearing sunscreen with an SPF of at least 30 every day, saying it should even go on the eyelids.
