The 34-year-old, who joined Dortmund in 2012, took to the pitch at Signal Iduna Park for the final time in his career as the Bundesliga club brought their league season to a close.

Dortmund battered bottom of the table side Darmstadt 4-0 with Reus bagging himself a farewell goal in the first half.

The star was also welcomed onto the pitch with a spectacular crowd display that resembled a shirt with the number 11 on it, alongside a banner that read: “Thank you Marco!”.

But the most touching moment occurred when Reus was substituted in the 81st minute.

The crowd erupted into cheers and applause as the star’s number was read out inside of the stadium.

And an emotional Reus, who scored 170 goals for the club, turned to clap their unwavering support as he headed to the touchline for the final time.

Darmstadt players joined in with the applause, while Reus’ Dortmund teammates formed a guard of honour tunnel for the German to walk down as he left the pitch.

Reus touched hands with each and every player as he took his last step off the Signal Iduna Park pitch as a Dortmund player.
