Why Sheffield United star won’t be expecting to start vs Tottenham after pricey summer transfer to Blades

SHEFFIELD UNITED will have to fork out an add-on for midfielder Vinicius Souza if he starts against Tottenham on Sunday.

The six-figure sum would be due for the 24-year-old Brazilian’s 30th Prem start for Blades, having signed from Belgians Lommel for £10.5million in August.

But Souza can play as a sub and no fee will be due.

The Brazilian has made 35 Prem appearances in total, with a further two in the FA Cup.

Meanwhile, striker Oli McBurnie, 27, is set for the bench after a quick return from a muscle injury that was expected to end his season.

Sheffield United are set to wave goodbye to several club stalwarts after the clash with Spurs.

Earlier this week they confirmed that Chris Basham, Oliver Norwood, George BaldockWes Foderingham and Max Lowe would all be departing on free transfers.

The Yorkshire club wrote in a statement: “The Blades can confirm Chris Basham, George Baldock, Oliver Norwood, Wes Foderingham and Max Lowe will leave the club when their contracts expire this summer.

“The aforementioned players will each embark on new chapters in their careers following the conclusion of this campaign, having helped the Blades to success during their spells at Bramall Lane.

“They share a total of nine promotions in their Blades careers and the club see fit to release this news ahead of the end of the campaign to enable them to receive acclaim from Unitedites for their contributions.
