Redditor Kat_of_the_canals shared the beauty tips in a viral post.

“Finally found a way to incorporate retinol into my routine (with dry, sensitive skin)!” they said.

They added that their skin type is so dry that even washing their face with soap causes it to “feel like a tight mask the second I would get out of the shower.”

Their perfected skincare routine, however, fixed the problem, even with drying retinol.

In the morning, they started with a splash of water to cleanse their skin.

Next, they used the Purito Centella Unscented Serum, which they noted helped with their skin’s sensitivity.

They followed up with the CeraVe Eye Repair Cream, the FAB Ultra Repair Cream, lip balm, and some sunscreen.

“If I plan on going out, I apply sunscreen too (Ombrelle SPF 60 for kids, unscented), and I usually also use BB cream with sunscreen in it (Purito Cica Clearing BB cream) if I want to wear makeup,” they said.

“When I apply sunscreen, I put it on after the skincare creams but before makeup.”

Their nighttime routine targets their oilier T-zone area and helps to reduce oil.

They double-cleanse with The Ordinary’s Squalane Cleanser to remove makeup and cleanse their skin.

“[I follow with] a mild cleanser (in this case, a Canadian brand called Reversa, but any mild cleanser could work): I find that this has helped a lot with sebaceous filaments,” they explained.

Next, they used the NIOD’s Modulating Glucosides, a serum that they found mitigated the side effects of retinol.

“This is by far the best product that I have ever tried for sensitivity,” they said.

“I apply a few drops before the retinol, and it really makes a difference; it stops all the flaking and stinging.”

After the serum, they go in with The Ordinary’s Retinol o.02 in Squalane.

“I experienced a bit of irritation at first but after a few weeks it resolved. The MG helped a lot with that. I gradually worked up to applying it every night along with the MG. Three drops is enough for my whole face,” they said.

Once a week, they skip the NIOD serum and opt for The Ordinary’s Mandelic Acid 10% and Hyaluronic Acid instead for exfoliation.
