Tottenham Hotspur are very interested in signing Turkish forward Baris Alper Yilmaz, but they face competition from Aston Villa and West Ham, as well as numerous clubs over in Italy.

Yilmaz joined Turkish giants Galatasaray in 2021, but it is this season that the striker has really risen to prominence, with an impressive campaign in front of goal for the Super Lig champions.

A return of seven goals and 12 assists this term (Transfermarkt) has seen Yilmaz catch the eye of teams across Europe and it seems he will be a wanted man this summer.

The 23-year-old may well be set for a move to the Premier League, but it would appear clubs in Serie A and Ligue 1 are also in pursuit of Yilmaz.

Will Yilmaz move to the Premier League?

According to Turkish outlet Milliyet, Spurs are in the hunt for the striker, who can also play on the wing, but will have to fight off competition from Aston Villa and West Ham.

The report claims representatives from those three clubs are all set to be in attendance as Galatasaray take on Fenerbahce as English sides take a closer look at the versatile attacker.

However, “like English clubs, the Italian teams are also very interested” in Yilmaz, with Juventus and Roma cited as potential suitors, too. French side Lille are also named in the report.

Apparently, there will be something of a “lottery” this summer for Yilmaz, and Galatasary are prepared to accept offers of around €20m (£17.1m).

Spurs Web Opinion

Yilmaz could be a good option, as he offers something on the wing and through the middle. That said, I would prefer us to sign two players — one for each role — rather than scrimping and making one player cover both areas. If we sign Yilmaz, we need to sign another attacker, too.
