As the Premier League season comes to a close, Tottenham fans can be happy after seeing their side wrap up the campaign with a win. Speaking to the press after the game, Spurs boss Ange Postecoglou discussed the performance in an ‘important’ win.

After registering just one win in their last six games, it’s safe to say Tottenham needed a reaction today against already relegated Sheffield United.

Ange Postecoglou will undoubtedly be happy with what he saw from his side at Bramall Lane this afternoon, as Spurs put in a dominant and professional performance to seal all three points and confirm their fifth-place finish in the Premier League this term.

Two goals from Dejan Kulusevski and a rocket of a finish from Pedro Porro were enough to secure the win for the Lilywhites, and truth be told, they never really looked like losing today.

Spurs showed the right mentality to secure Europa League football

Speaking to the press (via Football.London) after the game, Postecoglou touched on the topic of the performance and the result, and it sounds like the Australian is far happier than he was earlier this week.

He said: “I thought it was pretty good. I thought it was important we put in a decent performance today and won the game for a number of reasons.

“I thought the lads handled it pretty well. It’s always a bit difficult last game of the year, Sheffield United don’t have anything to play for, so it can be easy to kind of not have to right mentality but I thought for the most part we had that tonight.

“Three goals… I thought Wes Foderingham was outstanding. Overall I think it was an important win and a good performance.”

Tottenham will now play in the Europa League season following their fifth place finish in the Premier League having fended of the prospect of being overtaken by Chelsea on the final day.

The players will now jet off to Australia to face Newcastle United in a post-season friendly in Melbourne on Tuesday.

Spurs Web Opinion

Apart from allowing Sheffield United a couple more chances than we really should have, I think the performance overall was really strong and looked far more like the clinical, dangerous Spurs team we had come to expect earlier this season.
