‘That’s massive’ says stunned Lee Mack after ‘impossible’ question on The 1% Club wipes out dozens of players

THE 1% Club presenter Lee Mack was left shocked during Saturday’s episode as a single question eliminated more than 30 players.

Hosted by comedian Lee, 55, the quiz pits 100 people in the studio through their paces with increasingly tough questions.

The aim is to find the 1% who have the brains to decipher the trickiest question at the end and potentially win up to £100,000.

In Saturday’s episode of the ITV quiz, a large number of contestants were left similarly stumped on one question in particular.

The conundrum, which was the ‘40% question’, was as follows: “Which of these is impossible to do? A) Marry your cousin’s cousin, B) Marry your brother’s widow and C) Marry your widow’s sister.”

After the time was up, Lee was stunned to discover a whopping 32 people had failed to find the correct answer and were therefore eliminated from the game.

The Not Going Out star remarked: “Wow, that is massive! 32 people went out on that one!”

He added: “The answer was C. You would not be able to marry your widow’s sister, as you would already be dead.”

Viewers took to X (formerly Twitter) to share their reactions to the surprising moment, with one writing: “32 out on that question. Must be a record #the1percentclub.”

Another added: “WTAF?? 32 out! #The1PercentClub.”

Meanwhile, a third chimed in: “How did 32 people get that wrong! #The1PercentClub.”

Earlier this year, it was revealed the popular ITV game show had been renewed for new two more series.

Speaking at the time, Lee said: “Let’s be honest, the fact that I haven’t accidentally given a hundred grand to the wrong person or read out the answer instead of the question is as much a surprise to me as it is to everyone else.

“I’m really delighted that ITV is risking me steering this ship once again.

“I can’t wait to discover more of the nation’s brainboxes.”

An insider added: “The show has well and truly proved its popularity with viewers, and so it’s only natural to bring it back for not one, but two more rounds.

“This will also include two Christmas specials, which will air on ITV after the main series have run.”

The recommissioning will bring the show up to its fourth and fifth series.

The 1% Club airs on ITV at 8.50pm on Saturdays
