Michael Cohen testimony confirms he is considering run for Congress

Michael Cohen, Donald Trump's former attorney, revealed that he may seek office in the U.S. Congress thanks to the name recognition he received after flipping on the former president.

During Cohen's Monday cross-examination in Trump's hush money trial, defense attorney Todd Blanche quizzed the former attorney about how he made money following a fallout with Trump.

Cohen said he had made $4.3 million over four years by selling books and airing a podcast. He also said that he had unsuccessfully tried to sell a television show called "The Fixer."

At one point, Blanche asked Cohen if he had aspirations for Congress. Cohen confirmed he was considering it because of his name recognition.

"My name recognition is because of the journey I've been on. Is it affiliated with Mr. Trump? Yes," Cohen told Blanche. But he insisted that his recognition was not based solely on the former president.

Cohen has previously hinted at a run for Congress.

"I am interested and there's a multitude of folks encouraging me to run," he told Semafor in 2023.
