At least 12 people are injured following the horrific accident at the Medusa Beach Club.

Four of them are in serious condition after being crushed by falling rubble, according to reports.

There is no confirmation yet of whether those dead and injured are locals or tourists.

Video shows at least seven emergency service vehicles at the scene, including several firefighter trucks.

Those who have been rescued from the collapsed building are being treated for their injuries in the street.

Neighbours said they heard a loud noise and screams from those who were trapped inside before alerting cops at around 8pm.

A local official said: “We have activated an emergency response as a result of the collapse of the ceiling of a two-storey building in Avenida Cartago in Playa de Palma, where people are trapped.

“Firefighters and local police are at the scene.”

Playa de Palma is the beach resort east of the Majorcan capital.

Unconfirmed local reports are describing the person who died as an African male.

There are also claims that a third person is dead and trapped in the building’s rubble.

All ambulances in Palma have been ferried to Cartago street, now brimming with rescue workers.
