TOPEKA (KSNT) - A lot of people will be making a splash this Memorial Day weekend.

Ahead of a later start in the year for the kickoff of the swim season, there are many things pool owners should think about before hosting their next pool party.

"As far as getting the pool ready its gonna want to make sure that your chemicals are in balanced, and you wanna make sure that it's safe for the swimmers in it," Sherwood said.

Pool owners should also be cautious of what's happening in around the water.

"Look at the pool in a manner of how can someone get into my pool, how can somebody fall into this pool, what could have I done to make sure somebody doesn't drown in my pool," Sherwood said.

If you are spending a lot of time outside this summer, make sure to put on some sunscreen!
