Still looking for that first win of the year against these guys

Well, yesterday didn’t go great in the first game of the series. The team lose 6-3 but gets right back at it with another chance at beating the Houston Astros for the first time in 2024.

The club will turn to left-hander JP Sears to get the club back in the win column. Sears has been a bit up and down recently but is at the very least good for five solid innings. If Sears can do that while keeping the A’s in the game then the bullpen can help pull its weight and get a win.

Here is the Oakland lineup for game 2:

Not much to see here. The team has more or less settled into the same lineup at the top of the order. The bottom half is dependent on the handedness of the opponent’s starting pitcher and with them facing a righty today, it’ll be Oakland’s left-handed batters getting the start today.

They’ll he facing right-hander Spencer Arrighetti. Easily Houston’s weakest current starter right now, this might be the club’s best chance at a win in this series with young Astros stud Ronel Blanco set for the series finale. They club will need to get to Arrighetti as much as possible to keep up with a potent Astros offense.

The Houston lineup:

Let’s go A’s! A win today and we don’t have to worry about a sweep tomorrow.
