AN iconic Ford Sierra Rs Cosworth that is nearly 40 years old with surprisingly low mileage is now set to go for a six figure price.

Finished in moonstone blue, the Cosworth’s interior is a time tunnel back to the 1980s, with a cigar lighter, quartz digital clock, fascia light dimmer, leather gear knob, leather three spoke sports steering wheel, 3-speed heater fan and cassette storage space.

The beast’s famous 2.0 turbocharged engine will take it to 60 in just 6.2 seconds and will reach a top speed of 149mph.

The motor is in immaculate condition, with sumptuous Ford Roma Grey Recaro seats and grey pile carpets.

And the 80s classic is still a looker thanks to the front bumper, nose panel, wheel arch extensions and legendary rear spoiler.

In the 80s the Cosworth was seen as a sports car with a common touch due to its accessible price point.

Ordinary blokes could aspire to buy one, unlike Aston Martins and Ferraris which were the preserve of the superrich.

JF Classic Cars Ltd has listed the limited edition beauty for £136,995.

Last month KGF Classic Cars, in Peterborough listed an RS500 for an astonishing £350,000.

The price tag made it the second most expensive Cosworth ever sold – the world record was set last year at auction when one went for £596,250.

The Sierra Cosworth was developed for Touring Car racing and improvements were later added for a new model, the RS500.

Exactly 500 were sold in 1987 with all of them originally intended to be black, although 56 were eventually painted Diamond White and 52 Moonstone Blue

The legendary motor eventually became one of the most successful saloon racing cars of all time.

Back in 1987 an original model would have set you back around £20,000, but another RS500 recently went for £135,700 in 2022 – and prices have been rising steadily since.
