The Nation's Weather for Sunday, June 9, 2024
_____
NATIONAL SUMMARY
During the daytime hours, severe thunderstorms are expected
to rebuild along the path of a slow-moving cold front across
portions of the southern High Plains today, including the
panhandles of Texas and Oklahoma, with hail, localized
damaging wind gusts and downpours that may lead to flooding.
Dangerous thunderstorms may also develop east of that zone
near and along the Red River through Oklahoma and Arkansas
and into the Nashville metropolitan area. The risk for
showers and some zones of thunder will extend along the
advancing cold front into much of the Northeast, with a dry
day most likely close to the mid-Atlantic coast. Much of the
West is expected to be dry, but thunderstorms are expected
to pop up in the high terrain from Idaho through eastern New
Mexico.
