Book Review: ‘Miss May Does Not Exist’ is an engaging study of enigmatic Hollywood figure Elaine May

Groundbreaking comedian, writer and filmmaker Elaine May charted her own fearlessly original path in Hollywood and the theater world throughout decades. Shunning the spotlight, her name might not be as well known as her comedy partner, Mike Nichols, but Carrie Courogen’s engaging biography, “Miss May Does Not Exist,” aims to correct that. Courogen traces May's life from the 1950s comedy scene in Chicago, to Broadway and on to feature filmmaking, the AP's Mae Anderson writes.
