The Nation's Weather for Sunday, June 16, 2024
_____
NATIONAL SUMMARY
A powerful disturbance crossing the northern tier of the
country will bring the risk for severe weather to areas from
eastern Wyoming to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan today.
Within this zone, storms may be able to produce large hail,
flooding downpours, localized damaging wind gusts and even
some tornadoes late in the day and at night. Behind the
storm, enough cold air reaches the Northwest for
high-terrain snow in far northern Montana, with showers in
Washington. Otherwise, a general risk for thunderstorms
extends into interior sections of the South, especially from
the mountains of the Carolinas across Tennessee. A separate
zone of thunderstorms stretches along the Gulf coast as a
renewed flow of tropical moisture lifts northward. Most
other locations can expect a dry day.
