NATIONAL SUMMARY

Thunderstorms, some severe, will rumble across parts of the

Great Lakes, Ohio Valley and Northeast today. Severe

thunderstorms can produce damaging wind gusts, hail and

flooding downpours. An approaching cold front will promote

humid conditions and dot the Southeast and southern Plains

with afternoon thunderstorms. Sunny and very warm weather

will begin across parts of Virginia and the Carolinas. A

storm moving through the northern Rockies will spread

showers and thunderstorms across northern Montana, North

Dakota and southern Saskatchewan. An area of high pressure

will promote dry, sunny and very hot weather across over

much of the West. Daily record highs will continue to be

challenged in the Southwest and valleys of California.
