French elections: Who will be the next prime minister?

The coalition of left and green parties that make up the New Popular Front began discussions on selecting a name to put forward as a potential new prime minister Monday following the group’s surprise victory in snap legislative elections that gave them the most seats in parliament but not a majority. President Emmanuel Macron is expected to appoint a prime minister from the largest bloc in parliament, but there is no legal requirement for him to do so.
