Israeli strikes in the central Gaza Strip overnight have killed dozens of people including in a military-designated “safe zone” as Israel and Hamas weigh the latest cease-fire proposal. In the occupied West Bank, Israeli police say officers shot and killed a Palestinian after he stabbed a police officer in the latest violence there since the start of the war in Gaza. Hamas’ Oct. 7 attack sparked the war when its militants stormed into southern Israel, killing some 1,200 people and abducting about 250. Since then, health officials say Israeli ground offensives and bombardments have killed more than 38,600 people in Gaza.
