Stock market today: Asian shares mostly fall ahead of central bank meetings

Asian shares have mostly fallen in cautious trading ahead of central bank meetings around the world. The Federal Reserve, the Bank of England and the Bank of Japan hold monetary policy meetings this week. Benchmarks fell Tuesday in Sydney, Seoul, Hong Kong and Shanghai, while Tokyo's benchmark rose in afternoon trading. U.S. stock indexes drifted to a mixed finish ahead of a week full of earnings reports from Wall Street’s most influential companies and a Federal Reserve meeting on interest rates. The S&P 500 rose 0.1%, coming off its first back-to-back weekly losses since April. The Dow Jones slipped 0.1%.
