The Latest: Trump on defense after race comments and Vance's rough launch

Donald Trump falsely suggested Vice President Kamala Harris had misled voters about her race as he appeared before the National Association of Black Journalists in Chicago. The Republican former president wrongly claimed Wednesday that Harris had in the past promoted only her Indian heritage. She is the first Black woman and Asian American to serve as vice president. Harris says Trump's comments were the “same old show." She and her Democratic allies are increasingly branding Trump as “weird.” A survey by The Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research shows 8 in 10 Democrats say they would be somewhat or very satisfied if Harris became the Democratic nominee for president.
