Georgia superintendent says Black studies course can be taught after legal opinion

Georgia’s Superintendent of Schools Richard Woods now says that school districts may teach a new Advanced Placement course in African American Studies. That comes after a letter from Georgia’s attorney general that says the course doesn't violate Georgia’s law against teaching divisive racial concepts. Republican Attorney General Chris Carr says that's because the text of the law specifically exempts AP and similar college-level courses taught to high schoolers. Woods, also a Republican elected statewide, says the state will now consider all AP and similar college-level courses automatically adopted.
