Michigan lawmaker who was arrested in June loses reelection bid in Republican primary

A Michigan lawmaker who was arrested in June has lost his bid for reelection. Parker Fairbairn defeated Rep. Neil Friske in the Republican primary election Tuesday. Friske was arrested in June when Lansing police responded to reports of possible gunshots in the middle of the night. Friske has not been charged and denies wrongdoing. He represents all or part of five counties in northern Michigan. He'll stay in office through the end of the year. He represents Charlevoix and Emmet counties and portions of Cheboygan, Chippewa and Mackinac counties.
