Matteson teen charged with killing relative during argument
A teen in south suburban Matteson was charged with killing a relative during an argument Monday.
The 15-year-old boy was arguing with a relative outside a home in the 22000 block of Governors Highway when he pulled out a gun and opened fire around 8 p.m., the Cook County sheriff's office said.
Jose Moran-Padilla, 22, was struck in the back and arm and was taken to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead, sheriff's officials said.
Officers found a semi-automatic handgun and two firearm magazines at the scene, officials said.
The teen was arrested and charged with one count of first-degree murder.
He appeared at a detention hearing Wednesday and a judge ordered him held.
