Chicago Bears — 4-0 this September? Sure … it could happen

Let’s just pretend — purely for the sake of argument — that September might not go incredibly well for all of Chicago’s teams.

Understanding that, which one of these outcomes would you bet on happening if you had to pick one: the Bears starting 4-0, the Cubs making the playoffs, the Sky advancing to the league semifinals or the White Sox going on a five-game winning streak? That was question No. 1 in this week’s “Polling Place,” your home for Sun-Times sports polls on the social platform X.

“The Sox might not win five games in September, much less in a row,” @DonovanBurba commented.

“None of those have a chance to happen except for the Bears,” @00723maui wrote.

Next, we asked which Bears player you’d snag first for your fantasy football team. One commenter wanted to know if we can refer to those who’d snag running back D’Andre Swift as “Swifties.”

“Too far?” @MeersmanChris asked.

Last, we asked how you’ll spend your final Sunday before Bears season starts.

“Visiting my three-week-old great-nephew and teaching him the lyrics to ‘Bear Down, Chicago Bears,’ ” @mikewalsh4609 chimed in.

On to the polls:

Poll No. 1: If you had to bet on seeing one of these September headlines, which would it be?

Upshot: As far-fetched as a perfect Bears month might be, it’s probably the likeliest of these hard-to-imagine scenarios. Still, a tip of the beer helmet to @RonaldVoigt4 for going with “the Sox’ fifth in a row followed by a pig flyover.”

Poll No. 2: Which Bears player would you take first for your fantasy football team?

Upshot: Are we really this sure Allen won’t be the favorite red-zone target of Williams? I’m still considering him for my team, the Fightin’ I Don’t Play Fantasy Football Because I’m Not 12s.

Poll No. 3: It’s the final Sunday before Bears season starts. How will you spend it?

Upshot: This Sunday, anyway, good weather would beat the heck out of Bear weather.
