USC retires Caleb Williams' No. 13
Bears quarterback Caleb Williams was immortalized by his alma mater on Thursday when USC announced it was retiring his jersey No. 13.
The number will be posted in the peristyle at Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum next to that of Reggie Bush, another one of the Trojans' eight Heisman Trophy winners. Bush was given his Heisman Trophy back in April, years after being sanctioned by the NCAA. Williams is their most recent winner, having done so in 2022.
The Trojans announced the move in a video that featured, in true Los Angeles fashion, a litany of celebrities offering their congratulations. John Legend crooned "Ordinary People," the song Williams famously failed to sing on "Hard Knocks," before offering his congratulations. So did rapper Snoop Dogg and Fanatics CEO Michael Rubin.
"You’re definitely, definitely better at football than singing," Legend said.
Honored among our Trojan greats... number 13 has officially been retired.

The Bears drafted Williams first overall in April. He'll make his regular season debut Sunday at Soldier Field against the Titans.
